OSTRÓW TUMSKI AND THE CATHEDRAL OF THE APOSTLES PETER AND PAUL

The oldest Polish cathedral (since 968), the presumed site of baptism of Poland and the original location of the Poznań settlement. Picturesque areas, beautiful architecture and rich history make this place the most important monument to see in Poznań. Right next to it there is a bridge connecting Ostrów with the old district of Śródka and the ICHOT Centre.

GATE OF POZNAŃ ICHOT (INTERACTIVE CENTRE OF HISTORY OF OSTRÓW TUMSKI)

 

Located next to Ostrów Tumski and connected to it with a footbridge over the Cybina River, the Poznań Gate is an introduction to visiting Ostrów. Inside, there is a spacious, interactive centre of the history of Ostrów Tumski, and on the roof of the building there is an observation deck. The building itself is often awarded for its architecture.

STARY BROWAR SHOPPING CENTRE

 

One of the prettiest shopping centres in the world, awarded many times in international competitions. At the same time, this place is more than just a shopping centre – it is an art gallery, there are various restaurants and even music clubs. Stary Browar attracts people both for shopping in interesting shops as well as for social or cultural purposes.

POZNAŃ INTERNATIONAL FAIR

 

The largest exhibition centre in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. Every year, many trade and cultural events take place here. Every year Poznań Fair attracts over 850,000 participants. The most famous Poznań Fairs are Poznań Game Arena, Budma, Pyrkon, Gardenia, Meble Polska, Polagra and Poznań Motor Show.

OLD SQUARE

 

One of the largest squares in Europe, located in the historic district of the Old Town which has been the city centre for over 750 years. The Old Square has a lot of restaurants and clubs, town hall with the famous Billy Goats which gore every day at noon, as well as many monuments and historical attractions. There are also many events and fairs taking place on the Square, which is a must when visiting Poznań.

AVENIDA SHOPPING CENTRE

 

Formerly known as the Poznań City Center, its name was later changed to Avenida Shopping Centre. There is a railway station and a bus station. The Centre is located next to the Poznań International Fair.

POSNANIA SHOPPING CENTRE

 

The largest shopping centre in Greater Poland, housing 220 stores, 40 cafés and restaurants as well as 40 medium and large area shops. It is located just behind the St. Jadwiga bridge, next to the Rataje roundabout.

MALTA LAKE

 

One of the most interesting attractions of Poznań – an artificial reservoir located very close to the city centre between the Śródka and Rataje roundabouts. 2.2 km long, it allows for a 5.6 km long circle walk. The lake hosts many events such as the World Canoeing, Rowing, Canoe-Polo or even Dragon Boat Championships as well as triathlon competitions. Around the lake, there are plenty of attractions such as the artificial ski slope Malta Ski, New Zoo, Termy Maltańskie and many more.

CITY STADIUM IN POZNAŃ

 

The main sports arena of the city of Poznań, seat of the Lech Poznań club. Matches of the 2012 European Football Championship were played there. Until mid-2018, it was called Inea Stadium because of its sponsor.

THE FARA CHURCH

 

Its full name is the Collegiate Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Mary Magdalene and St. Stanisław Bishop in Poznań. It is a baroque parish church and collegiate church at the same time. It is located next to the Old Square and is one of the most beautiful Poznań churches, definitely worth a visit.

TERMY MALTAŃSKIE

 

The largest sports and recreation centre in Poland and the second largest facility of this type in Europe. It is located on Malta Lake, not far from the New Zoo. There are recreational and sports pools as well as a sauna area. Many slides and other attractions allow both young and old to spend many hours of great fun.

ZOO

 

In fact, the New Zoo in Poznań is the second largest zoo in Poland. It is a beautiful place worth visiting, especially if you have more time, you can walk around for a long time and watch various animals that are often found on open lots.

CYTADELA PARK

 

The largest park in Poznań with an area of about 100 ha, recognized by the President of the Republic of Poland as a monument of history. A scenic place where many monuments and artistic installations as well as historical objects are located. One of the most interesting places here is the Monument of Heroes, at the top of which there was a red star, which Poznań firemen removed arbitrarily in 1990. The Museum of Armaments and the Museum of the Poznań Army are also located here.

POZNAŃ PALM HOUSE

 

Located at Wilson Park, it covers an area of 4600m2, on which about 1100 species of plants are presented. It is the largest palm house in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. In addition to a rich collection of plants, there are also aquariums with fish, bird cages and free-running hens.

SOŁACKI PARK

 

One of the most picturesque parks in Poznań, located in the residential district of Sołacz. It is worth visiting for its paths along the beautiful ponds.

POZNAŃ TRACK

 

A racing car and motorcycle track located just behind the Ławica airport. The track built in the 70s is currently one of the best facilities of this type in Poland. The main track is 4038m long and the karting track is 1480m.

WARTA BOULEVARDS

 

Green areas at the Warta river, above which, as soon as the weather is nice, a large number of Poznań residents gather to grill and party by Warta in a nice atmosphere.

ŁĘGI DĘBIŃSKIE

 

Picturesque green areas located next to the Hotel Włoski, which include the John Paul II Park, the Chwiałka ice rink, a swimming pool, a cinema and other interesting cultural and leisure facilities.
